Description
Boissière House, fondly know as the Gingerbread House built in 1904 was the home of the
Boissière family for almost 100 years. It's located near the edge of the Queens's Park Savannah in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean.
The Gingerbread House over the years became a dilapidated, broken shell. In 2013 ownership of the property changed hands and restoration work started almost immediately on the interior and exterior.
The incredible confection of intricate fretwork, finials, gables, stained-glass windows, pagoda-style pavilion, wraparound veranda and much more were all restored to its former glory.
The project received a historic restoration award from The National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago in 2014.
