Description
Stollmeyer’s Castle was the first of the Magnificent Seven Mansions to be constructed alongside the Queen's Park Savannah in Port of Spain, Trinidad, the Caribbean.
The architect was a Scotsman, Robert Gillies and it's said that the structure of the house was patterned after a wing of Balmoral Castle in Scotland. Construction started in 1902 and was completed in 1904. It was owned by the Stollmeyer family until the Government of Trinidad and Tobago purchased it in 1979.
Stollmeyer’s Castle has been refurbished to the tune of $48 million TT dollars and was reopened to the public in 2018. This national heritage site is now as an arts and cultural centre.
