Toco Lighthouse at Galera Point is situated on the furthest eastern point on the Caribbean island of Trinidad. It is a white stone tower which was built in 1897 and was renamed the Keshorn Walcott Toco Lighthouse in 2012 in honour of Olympic Gold Medal Javelin Thrower Keshorn Walcott who hails from the fishing village of Toco.
The Lighthouse overlooks the stormy stretch of water known as the Fisherman’s Graveyard, where the Caribbean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Around the lighthouse there is a park and picnic area with benches and tables being shaded by almond and sea grape trees.
